How Listening To Bach Help You Define Your Visual Narration

There are three acts in Joseph Campbell’s Hero’s Journey. In order to simplify Bach’s influences in a narration, I will approach these three points and will reference the following video.

There are three acts in Joseph Campbell’s Hero’s Journey. In order to simplify Bach’s influences in a narration, I will approach these three points and will reference the following video.

Let’s start with the first act

  1. ACT 1 / Arpeggiating your home —( 00:00–00:19)

Arpeggiating means breakout, so the first step is always going out of your box. Not just thinking outside of the box, but breakout from it. AND IT IS REALLY HARD! You can feel the essence of this song when two pivotal keys emerge: the G and D notes. These musical entities a dance of release and tension, symbolizing the concepts of home and journey.

Their harmonic relationship as fifth notes is a testament to their seamless collaboration within the composition. What can we take from this? Its represent a step in building our pedal point and passion that resonate a will for adventure, we compose our self to things we wanted to achieve. Consequently, our home carries a gravity and depth, maintaining a sense of anchoring even as the harmonic progression dances and evolves.

  2. ACT 2 / Shift then Fermata — (00:19–01:20)
Grab your pen and go out! Here’s where the adventure truly begins, shedding the reliance on the G pedal. It’s a call to action, a narrative shift from the tonic to the dominant, setting the stage for a musical journey. The composition ventures into the realms of ‘A minor’ a realms of adventure full of excitement, problems and challenges. Its a phase where you as a designer and creative adventurer. Explore the nuances and invoking a sense of playfulness within a new landscape.

As the melody traverses the chaos that ‘A minor’ creates, it gradually ascends once more, climbing back from the depths it has ventured into. Just when the familiarity of ‘home’ seems within reach, a surprising twist emerges (a problems as we always saw in every creative ideations provide a chance for you to expand and get new experience by conquering adversities) — the low C flips here representing the dragons, propelling the narrative into yet another captivating adventure. Until finally, the arrival at the fermata — a momentary pause, a silence with anticipation of up coming awakening, where the visual odyssey momentarily halts, inviting contemplation before the next unforeseen future in this captivating tale of harmonies and melodies.

  3. ACT 3 / Bariolage of perfect mayhem- (01:20 — end)
As the composition descends from E to D Major, a bariolage technique disrupts the steady flow, introducing an element of disorder to the otherwise constant strings. You finally found how to dissolve the established structure that leads into chaos, only to be resurrected anew. A new perspective, a new point of view a new breath, new taste, new smell. You feel it in your heart that, the persistent use of open strings contributes to the mayhem, creating a whirlwind of rhythmic disorder. Amidst this uproar, a chromatic scale ascends, evoking an ecstatic sensation — an exhilarating crescendo that attempts to break free from the confines of the adventure.

Here you found how to disrupt the market and inject a new perspective, a new concept. However, despite the attempt, the composition joyously revels in playing with these boundaries. Upon finally arriving back at G Major, at ‘home,’ a tangible release unfolds. You can almost feel the accumulated tension evaporating into yourself. It’s a perfect resolution — a return to where it all began but you feel anew. This creative journey has been nothing short of remarkable — a quest to navigate the chaos within oneself, resolving the discord, and emerging as a renewed entity. It’s a testament to the power of turmoil and resolution, leading to the discovery of a newfound self amidst the harmonies and dissonances of the musical odyssey.

Bach’s G major prelude stands as a timeless fascination, captivating not only cellists but also creative enthusiasts for generations. Within this piece, Bach lives for a moment in every consciousness an astonishing feat — crafting rich and intricate harmonic movements employing only the resources of a four-stringed instrument. What’s most remarkable is his ability to achieve this complexity while adhering to the fundamental principles of music composition.

Bach’s G major prelude has the capacity to evoke emotions and resonate deeply, immersing you in an adventure of a lifetime. As a creative individual, I have consistently found that this score helps me navigate through the day, providing new perspectives on problems and continually surprising me with its impact on my creative vision.
